November 1st & 2nd Trips
Saturday there where six machines for the ride up to Mount Lolo, a
couple of great riders I haven’t met before, Dan, Doug and Les
(Director), Tim (one of the first riders I rode with) Nick (thank
goodness, it saves a lot of trouble if he takes us in and out. No
search and rescue etc) and myself. We went up on a mostly beautiful
day, quite a mixture of riding terrain, a little mud, little hills
and some mixture of nice and rough trails. The lookout was very
windy and chilly but a great view. I hit a rock and bent my rim and
broke the bead on one tire, Tim stopped to help and with a set of
vise grips and an axe we got the rim beat back and only a slow leak
(many knock o meter strikes later that night I got it to quit
leaking). Great ride.
Sunday there where 19 machines, we meet at Pinatan Lake, quite a
mixture. Allen and Brenda and the girls from Salmon Arm, Nick and
his wife Ingrid, Rosella and her friend (sorry I cannot remember
names) Les and his wife Kathy, Doug and his son, Jeremy and his two
year daughter Riley, Trevor from my work, Trevor (director) Ron,
three people from Pinatan who I didn’t get to meet, Linda my wife,
my grandson Carter and myself. No major problems despite the amount
of machines, Nick, Allen and I had radios so we didn’t lose people
for very long. We went through some nice and easy trails, Allen’s
two girls Katherine and Martina had there little 90 and did
exceptionally well, Jeremy’s little girl rode on the front of his
machine with him the whole day. What a trooper she was and him for
bringing her. We stopped for lunch at the Swedish Village and tried
to tell a little history, we then went to the look out and could see
to Kamloops to the west and Prichard to the east. The weather gave
us a little cooling of to keep the dust down but I never heard a
slightest complaint. Some of the riders carried on to Paul Lake and
the rest of us called it a day. It was a great ride for all levels
and it’s nice to see so many riders there.
